Helen Campbell is the founder of Rhona Studio, a collaborative design consultancy in Cornwall dedicated to the intersection of sportswear innovation and sustainable practice. With a decade long career shaped by technical challenges, from designing Speedo’s Olympic swimsuits to creating kit for the Rugby World Cup. Helen has built a reputation for solving complex garment problems through a disciplined, research led approach. Her work is informed by a blend of academic study at Falmouth and Nottingham Trent, alongside a personal understanding of human mechanics as a certified yoga teacher. At Rhona Studio, she partners with brands to explore the future of movement. By focusing on advanced construction and the potential of sustainable practices, she helps her collaborators navigate the balance between high-level athletic requirements and a responsibility toward the environment.

-Lead designer for Fastskin, Speedo's olympic swimsuit for 2024. -Worked across Pentland's portfolio of brands on Innovation projects & supporting brand planning. -Worked on Rugby World Cup 2023 jersey design for Canterbury. -Designed "Fastskin 4.0" concept which was Speedo's best performing Instagram post in the last 3 years -Part of core team leading the implementation of 3D design across the business. -Organised live project with university students repurposing waste garments. -Worked with world class and grass roots athletes.

• Responsible for developing a new line of trend & fashion focused swimwear in a new thermal swimwear fabric. • Carried out trend forecasting, market research, Illustrator CS6 CAD design, mood boards, toile fittings, Tech Packs, contacting suppliers, sourcing and team meetings.

Bra Fitting Consultant

• Trained to bra fit by eye (no measuring tape) • Fitted for variety of customer concerns including: mastectomy prosthesis, pregnancy and breastfeeding, reduced mobility & back problems. • Products fitted include: Everyday bras, Sports bras, Swimwear, Loungewear and large bust clothing. • Also worked on shop floor helping customers and working till.
Education

Fashion/Apparel Design
• 3 year full time course, taught alongside Fashion Design students. Industry focused. • Skills include: Illustrator CAD design, Photoshop, InDesign, trend forecasting, knowledge of fabric properties, design for anatomy, working in a team and independently, Industrial sewing and construction, developing a collection, pattern cutting, digital print and colour palettes. • Dissertation title: How can textiles be used to aid survival in extreme conditions. • Live design projects with: Finnisterre, Fourth Element and Freidman’s. • Visited ISPO Munich and Adidas headquarters in Germany. • Winner of competition with Polartec, design was displayed at ISPO Munich 2016. • Final Collection was constructed using recycled fabrics and embedded wearable technology.
