Develops youth employment and volunteer programs while supervising staff who implement programming at eight schools in the Richmond District.

In this position, I was responsible for the supervision of the after school program at George Peabody Elementary School. This required coaching of staff, building curriculum, solving disciplinary issues, communicating with the school day staff, and providing an enriching and fun place for youth to explore their interests after school.

I built curriculum for and led classes for high school youth at George Washington High School's Beacon program. I led after school clubs such as Venture Out, Street Art, Fundraising Club, and Food Critics Club. Each club required outreach to the general school population, curriculum building, partnering with local businesses, and youth voice.

Oversaw a school day program called SoFresh Leaders which aims to use games and Restorative Practices to build community in freshmen and sophomore homerooms. Capitalizing on previously under-utilized time, I placed juniors and seniors into homerooms where they can affect the most change and build relationships. I created a volunteer program to begin training high school students to do youth work in middle and elementary schools in the Richmond District of San Francisco. I provided training in facilitation, group management, public speaking, leadership, professionalism, and many other valuable qualities employers look for. Along with training, I provided ongoing support, coaching, and supervision to build the job skills these youth will use later in life. I was the liaison for the city-wide Beacon Leadership Team with an on-site group of youth responsible for the leadership in our multicultural and leadership programs. The goal of this partnership with the other eight Beacons in San Francisco is to build a peer network between youth of different backgrounds and life experiences.
