Hayde Montoya
Second Grade Teacher @ Austin Independent School District
About
Hi there! I'm Hayde, a second grade teacher within Austin ISD. I have started my journey into education, and have been loving it thus far. I attended and transferred from the University of Texas at Arlington, to the University of North Texas. During my time there, I studied film, earning my Bachelor's in Media Arts with a focus in editing and screenwriting. I also obtained minors in English and Spanish to be able to use within the educational field. After graduation, I shifted my focus from videography to photography, and have begun photographing local bands! I hope to make this grow even further and potentially use that to get myself back into videography.

I began working at Whataburger as a senior in high school beginning in Arlington, Tx. It was the first job I was hired at, and developed close friendships with the customers and my coworkers! Whataburger provided me with financial aid through its scholarship program during my time in college. Throughout my time in this job, I learned valuable hospitality and customer service skills. Working under constant pressure and stress is something I quickly became accustomed to. My main jobs included handling transactions, taking orders, and problem resolving. Now as I have graduated, I would like to work in my field or in fields that peak my interests, but thank Whataburger for the role it played in my life, career-wise and educationally.
Education

Media Arts
I transferred to UNT during the fall of 2019. Previously, I had attended the University of Texas in Arlington, however their curriculum for my degree did not prove satisfactory. UNT's film program was exactly what I was looking for; I learned so much through the program. I focused my degree in writing and editing. I took a class on video production, working in a studio setting. I learned the ins and outs of studio production for television, with my biggest strengths being camera operating and live editing. I also took screenwriting classes and did two minors: one in English, the other in Spanish. My English minor focuses on creative writing. I completed a Spanish minor to further my understanding of the language and help strengthen my writing in it as well. One of the classes I took under this major was "Writing for Mass Media Professions" in which we had to write articles that could be published in a local newspaper. One of my articles was published as well.
