Davis Food Ingredients is a leading supplier of food products to a wide range of customers across New Zealand and Australia. I've been working here as a Shipping Coordinator since April 2024. My day-to-day role involves managing the flow of consignments (full container loads, less than container loads and airfreight) from the origin country all the way to our warehouses as well as 3PL sites where necessary. As part of that, I make sure that orders are shipping on time, details as to their whereabouts are up to date in our system and documents are received on time and in good order to prevent any delays with customs clearance and ultimately, our receival of the consignment. I'm also responsible for organising exports, obtaining quotes and in general, regularly liaising with both Davis staff and external companies on a wide range of shipping and logistics matters. I've worked on my problem solving skills in situations such as working with stakeholders to enhance the efficiency of container delivery, assisting external customers with receival of their shipment as well as advising staff of the possibility of importing certain items, and closely monitoring that consignment once on the way to ensure it reaches us in a timely manner.
