I strongly believe that if your blinds are not in the right place at the right time then they are totally useless from a performance perspective. Think about it - blinds help to keep rooms cool by reflecting the sun out. But blinds don't cool the room down by themselves. So if the sun has been beating in all morning and your Lounge is now hot and stuffy, putting the blinds down won't cool the room down will it? But if your blinds had come down automatically when the sun came out this morning, then the room would be a lot cooler now. I also believe the lighting design without shading is just light. By that I mean that if you're not planning blinds as part of your lighting design you're not addressing the whole ambience of a space. Sunlight is great until there's too much of it. Then how do you control it? So who and I and why do I care? Umbra is my family business, started by my Grandpa in 1975, it has grown to become a well known name in the market place.
