Hans Kuipers

Hans has a graduated degree in bioprocess technology and is specialized in wastewater- and sludge treatment. Over the last 20 years he is experienced in designing and optimizing wastewater treatment installation, innovation and research activities in wastewater treatment technologies, aeration, energy management, renewable energy, nutrient recovery, slugetreatment, asset management and project management. He has also a wide knowledge on all kind of water management processes and process information systems. Hans is responsible for the implementation of climate agreements in energy saving, sustainable energy production and reduction of greenhouse gasses within the waterboard . The last deventeen years he is also involved in all kind of policy- and strategic processes at the Waterboards and the Association of Regional Water Authorities. He is also involved in several research activities, for example at The Foundation for Applied Water Research (in short, STOWA), Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) Technical University Delft and Technical University Eindhoven. Nationwide Hans is involved in all kinds of networks and community’s, for instance the collaborative network organization called Energy & Raw Materials Factory (Energie- en Grondstoffenfabriek). Over the last twelve years Hans also combined his job with a.i. manager of the wastewater treatment department. Within the context of “water and sanitation for everyone” Hans was involved in a project in Ghana and a project for Ethiopia. Hans his goal for the coming years is to further innovate the wastewater- and sludgetreatment at the Waterboards in order to produce cleaner water, use less energy, produce more sustainable energy and recover nutrients and other raw materials from wastewater to become 100 % circular en climate neutral in near future.
