I have been an avid exerciser my entire life. I served eight years in the US Army after college and it was in the service that my passion for intense exercise was fueled. For years I pursued fitness either in the traditional gym setting or through martial arts, road racing or tennis. I have owned most every type of fitness equipment from the Soloflex to the Bowflex and various benches and squat racks. All of those avenues kept me slender but it seemed that not one of them could hold my attention for more than a year or two before I had to pursue something else. It was in 2006 that I was first introduced to CrossFit through a friend at work. After running out to the nearest Dicks Sporting Goods I grabbed a Kettlebell and a Med Ball having never used either of them before. Now I was ready. NOT. The first workout was a Hero WOD - Joshie. 21 - 40lb DB Snatch Left Arm, 21 L Pullups, 21 - 40lb DB Snatch Right Arm, 21 L Pullups - 3 Rounds. Halfway through round 1 I knew this was going to hurt the next day. I don’t remember exactly how I did, but I do remember thinking that I must have written it down wrong. Could they really have meant 3 rounds?? Ha! Good stuff. Two of the most appealing aspects for me are the fact that it is something different every day and although many of the movements are the same, when they are combined in different weights and rep schemes it always provides a challenge. Additionally, I really appreciate the fact that there are not any quick fix, single purpose gadgets necessary and that simple hard work and consistency along with a smart diet can get you all the success you are looking for. I truly do enjoy talking to people about their plans to pursue their dreams and goals of starting a CrossFit gym and I believe that here at Hammerhead Strength Equipment, we can help you achieve those goals.
