Forward deployed to Afghanistan, served as the Operations Officer to the Army Central Command (ARCENT) Senior Engineer, Provided effective Title 10 programming, guidance, and resources to ensure required infrastructure (encompassing theater engineer guidance, infrastructure development plan, materials, and equipment) and combat units were in place and optimized for efficient strategic movement, effective operational sustainment, force protection, tactical employment, and resource stewardship. Facilitated the Senior Engineer's ability to conduct operations across the Afghanistan Theater of Operations; provided oversight of information flow between the Senior Engineer, the ARCENT Deputy Commanding General, and the staff. Served as the conduit between the Senior Engineer and staff principles, Joint and Coalition partners, and other military headquarters.

Senior Military Advisor to one of Iraq’s 600-man Department of Border Enforcement Battalions. Assigned to conduct Foreign Internal Defense Operations spanning a 75 kilometer stretch of battlespace along the Iraqi and Syrian border during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Served as the principle advisor to the Iraqi battalion commander on the leadership, training, deployment, and welfare of his Iraqi soldiers. Assisted the Iraqi battalion in developing an effective counterinsurgency capability and provided the Iraqi commander with mentorship as well as access to Coalition combat force when needed. Responsible for the training, morale, welfare, and operations of a specialized 11-man Military & Border Transition Team (MiTT/BTT).

Deputy Commander of the Memphis District, U.S Army Corps of Engineers, comprised of 550 civilian professional/technical/wage grade personnel, with an operating budget of more than $150 million and mission responsibility across 25,000 square miles in six states of the Lower Mississippi Valley. Provided supervision and direction to the District's Support Staff and Emergency Operations Center. During emergencies such as the record flooding of 2011, directed the Emergency Operations Center staff and provided media with updates and essential information. Assisted the Commander in executing civil works program planning, engineering design, real estate procurement, construction, operations and maintenance, flood risk management, navigation infrastructure development and maintenance along 610 miles of the Mississippi and White Rivers and ten inland harbors, and federal disaster emergency operations. Developed a plan to cut over $2 million in overhead spending without cutting capacity resulting in reduced cost to the customer. Served as the District Commander in his absence.

Served as the Senior Civil Watch Officer for the Headquarters, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) 24-hour Operations Center (UOC). Responsible for planning, readiness, and execution of a broad range of Emergency Operations Center (EOC) functions during emergency operations. Developed and maintained specific emergency plans, analyzed emergency information, issued reports, prepared briefings, assured readiness of EOC systems, and prepared the UOC personnel for execution of assigned duties during emergencies. Coordinated directly with DoD, FEMA, DHS, and other major commands and agencies for planning, coordinating, and executing engineer support for civil/military operations. Managed Emergency Support Function (ESF) #3 response and recovery missions in support of FEMA. Additional duties include UOC Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP), HQUSACE COOP Officer, and Assistant Weather Officer.

Selected to attend Resident Command and General Staff College to further Military Proffessional Education focusing on Operational Art, Planning, and general staff officer principles at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels.

Earned following credit recommendations from American Council on Education towards upper-division baccalaureate degree: 3 semester hours in human relations, 3 in structural engineering, 3 in engineering materials, and 3 in construction project management. Developed awareness of leadership and ethical qualities. Learned to make effective use of human resources through understanding human motivation, behavior patterns, conflict management, group functioning and processes. Lerned basics of plan and design, materials, procurement, and construction of roads, airfields, and supporting facilities including soil mechanics, drainage, concrete and asphalt pavements, bridges, utilities, and structures. Learned ability to inspect and ensure quality of work.

Earned following credit recommendations from American Council on Education towards lower-division baccalaureate degree: 3 semester hours in materials and methods of construction. Learned the ability to design and build Bailey and floating bridges, design and inspect concrete construction, and plan and manage construction projects. Learned basics of leadership and ethics, maintenance and supply, training, tactical engineering doctrine, construction operations, and general engineering support.
