Fuel Cell R&D Test (AEM / DMFC / PEM)
CMR Fuel Cells (UK) Ltd
Development and testing of novel membrane electrode assemblies and stacks for methanol and hydrogen fuel cells using customised test stations (both acid and alkaline chemistries). Running electrochemical diagnostic test routines to analyse fuel cell components, from flow field plates to membrane and catalyst materials. Creation of novel test solutions for anionic polymer exchange fuel cells. Worked on condenser characterisation and system integration for novel portable DMFC system. Laboratory steward responsible for developing and writing test SOPs, WIs and test schedules; also responsible for COSHH assessment, test rig calibration and construction. Responsible for data analysis and reporting to all levels within the business from technical staff to board level. Authored numerous technical R&D reports and documents. • Prioritising workload to meet strict deadlines / targets • Electrochemical diagnostics (triox polarisations, half-cell measurements, cyclic voltammetry, AC Impedance, stoichiometry sensitivity, electrochemical and CO2 measurement of methanol crossover) • Commissioning of single cell and stack testing test assemblies (documenting build tolerances, leak testing, electrical short testing) • Construction of in-house humidification system, pressure drop rigs and electronic load banks • In-house training of new personnel

Electromechanical Technician
Electromechanical assembly, testing and calibration of Optima circulator/heaters and QB block heating devices (circuit boards, mechanical assemblies). Work included PAT testing and required manual dexterity, a high attention to detail, the ability to work to strict production deadlines and adherence to ISO 9001-2008 quality control standards and procedures. • Additional voluntary study for a level 2 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques • Member of ISO 14001 Environmental team

Voluntary Research Technician (Department of Plant Sciences)
Variety of laboratory work researching plant photosynthesis and carbon concentrating mechanisms. Responsibilities included cryogenic distillation of samples for radio-isotope analysis, preparation, measurement and documentation of leaf samples, as well as attendance at relevant research seminars and presentations.
