Gustavo Augusto Azevedo de Jesus Freire dos Santos

My name is Gustavo Augusto, and I recently graduated from Drew University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations. I will be continuing my academic journey at Drew as a Master of Science in Finance candidate, with a focus on Financial Engineering. My academic interests center on two areas: finance and political economy, with a particular emphasis on East Asia. Throughout my college years, I have completed courses that align with there interests, including Money and Banking, Econometrics, Statistics, a Wall Street Semester, East Asian Politics, Global Economy, and Chinese Politics. I was born and raised in Brazil, after completing my high-school I had the opportunity to take a year to travel and study around the world learning different cultures and languages. What initially was planned as a one year experience, became two years long due to Covid19. During this experience I was able to immerse myself in different cultures and languages, successfully completing English courses in countries such as New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Dubai, and the United States, as well as a French course in France. Beyond academics, I have a passion for surfing and soccer, both sports that I have pursued since a young age. Having those sports as my main hobbies have taught me discipline, perseverance, and the value of staying active and engaged with the people and nature around me.
