Responsible for COC sign offs, QC management. Skills developed Programming of Simocode DP and Pro. Substantial technical knowledge on various areas of plant machinery i.e. Coronastats, Magnetic Seperators, Conveyors, Magnetic Drum Roller feeders, Re- Heaters, Tube Feeders, Belt Feeders. Personnel Management played a key role in the completion of the project. Due to many unforeseen challenges, interaction between key players was of utmost importance to ensure milestones would be achieved. Networking, building relationships built on trust was key to this process.

PoolCop (Pty) Ltd, APMI Holdings Ltd, Managing Director (11 years) PoolCop International (Pty) Ltd, Technical & Product Development Director (International-Outside RSA) (3 years) I was responsible for the management, procurement of finance, financial control, design and development of the PoolCop APMS (www.poolcop.com), an automated pool management system. This product was accepted by the DTI, SPII program and funding was procured for this project. Project management was very important as milestones and objectives ensured on time payments by the Department of Trade and Industry. Documentation included the drafting of Patent documentation, Good Manufacturing Practice and Technical File Documentation for ISO9001 & CE, technical and installation manuals. The past 2 years were focused on the overseeing and management of the design and development of Swimming Pool Heat and Chill pumps sized from 8kW to 230kW for PoolCop International. Design included, structural, electrical and electronic (control system) for compressor/fan/sensors/measuring devices. Certification on these products was done CE, CTICK, SAA and CB Scheme. The factory is situated in China and responsibilities included the transformation of the factory to AIAG standards. Responsibility included technical training of clients worldwide, Australia Europe, India, America and Dubai. Travel abroad was part of my responsibility, meeting with well-known companies i.e. Pentair (Europe, USA, Australia, India, Singapore and Dubai), Diffazur (Europe), Zodiac, New Times (China) and many more. Skills developed Skills developed during this period were project management, all aspects of human resource management (25 employees), technical evaluation and interpretations, design and development methodologies, statutory knowledge, structuring of installation/user’s manuals, training manuals. Further skills developed were the marketing of all the products worldwide including presentations to top Executives.

Spoornet (Formerly South African Transport Services), Manager – Spoornet Infrastructure (Electrical), Research and Development - Management of personnel, provided Technology (Research and Development) expertise in the fields of new and existing technologies to ensure cost effective, reliable and safe equipment to Spoornet countrywide. The design, development, planning and project management of Preventative Maintenance System for 3kV traction substations this included measuring of 3kV rectifiers, energy dissipation of high speed circuit breakers, transformer evaluation, monitoring software, embedded computer design and central communications network. This included technical problem solving of all substations, supply networks (3kVdc, 25kVac) country wide and technical evaluation of new equipment. Dec 1993 – Jan 1998 Spoornet, District Engineer – Spoornet Infrastructure (Electrical) - Laboratory - Management of the Test and Research Laboratory – Infrastructure Electrical, Spoornet, high voltage tests, technical investigations, report recommendations and conclusion for all regional electrical supply systems. Work included testing of safety equipment to safety standards, material and safety tests on new equipment, technical investigations and research and development projects. Projects included Energy and maximum demand research, research on regenerative breaking and harmonics, evaluation of power supplies, testing and evaluation of overhead heat sensing relays. Aug 1991 – Nov 1993 Spoornet, Assistant Engineer (Permanent) – Spoornet Infrastructure –Traction Substations Aug 1993 – Dec 1993 Design, planning, theoretical analysis and compilation of tender documents this included technical evaluation on failings of 1 MVA signal transformers, classification of 3kV diode rectifiers, upgrading of the New Canada 3kV DC substation, upgrading of SF6 (42kV) breakers.
