Business Development Manager
Greater Seattle Area
I was recruited by the owner of DT Lines — a former colleague from Seattle Solutions — who had built a fleet of about 30 owner-operators but needed someone to turn his brokerage from an idea into a real business. When I joined, DT Lines was moving roughly $1 million a month in trucking revenue. I came in to organize operations, build out the brokerage, and position the company for national growth. Having anticipated how strong the market would rebound after COVID-19, I made sure we were ready — expanding capacity, forming new vendor partnerships, and never turning down a load or project, no matter the size. I built the brokerage from the ground up, developing onboarding, billing, and operations systems while helping launch an overseas office to manage 24/7 dispatch, billing, and customer support. During my time with DT Lines, I successfully managed over 350,000 shipments spanning drayage, intermodal, regional, OTR, and final-mile freight — covering all 13 major U.S. ports, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, New York/New Jersey, Savannah, and more. Working closely with freight forwarders and importers, I helped streamline container movement from port pickup to warehouse transload to final delivery, establishing DT Lines as a trusted, high-performing partner nationwide. Key Highlights: - Built and launched the brokerage division from the ground up. - Helped open and train an overseas operations office. - Created SOPs and KPIs to improve efficiency and accountability. - Expanded shipper and vendor relationships across the U.S. - Supported growth from $1M/month to helping drive $500M+ in annual revenue.

Excl Trucking was one of the largest and fastest-growing trucking companies in the region, operating a fleet of more than 250 trucks along with brokerage and warehousing divisions. At Excl, I worked across every division of the business, helping each department either bring in new freight or manage and cover its existing workload. The company operated in multiple segments — local, regional, and over-the-road operations moving reefer, power-only, dry van, and intermodal container loads — and I played a key role in ensuring each one stayed efficient, profitable, and well-coordinated. - Supported all divisions with operational strategy and sales development, from local dispatch to national long-haul coordination. - Oversaw day-to-day operations for a 250+ truck fleet while collaborating with brokerage and warehouse teams. - Previously managed freight volumes averaging $10–20 million per month, and at Excl Trucking successfully handled $30–40 million per month, overseeing one of the most active operations in the region. - Developed streamlined workflows between departments to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround times. - Negotiated rates and built relationships with key shippers, carriers, and logistics partners. This role gave me the opportunity to lead across every sector of logistics, expand revenue capacity, and fine-tune large-scale operations in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

Seattle Solutions LLC was a rapidly expanding expedited carrier running more than 40 trucks. The owner personally recruited me after hearing about my operational track record. His goal was to bring structure, leadership, and growth to an already fast-moving company. The environment was extremely high-pressure — everything was expedited, and trucks rarely stopped moving. While learning their systems and handling daily chaos, I was also tasked with building a new brokerage division that didn’t exist before. At the same time, the owner opened an overseas office, and I was assigned to train and manage the new international team, teaching them U.S.-based dispatching, sales, and customer communication. - Oversaw daily operations for a 40+ truck expedited fleet in a nonstop, time-critical environment. - Built the company’s brokerage division from the ground up, establishing all SOPs and carrier/shipper onboarding processes. - Trained and managed the newly formed overseas team on freight sales, dispatch, and customer service. - Created standardized systems between domestic and international offices for 24/7 coverage. - Negotiated carrier and customer rates to maintain profitability in a fast-paced operation. - Recruited and onboarded new owner-operators and carrier partners to meet capacity needs. This role taught me how to lead both domestic and global teams, manage constant freight movement under pressure, and build scalable operational systems that sustained long-term growth.

Pacific Coastal Brokerage

While managing operations at Sunshine Trucking, I discovered the company also held brokerage authority that hadn’t yet been developed. The owner encouraged me to set it up if I could manage both sides of the business — and offered 50% commission on every load I booked. Over the next year, I taught myself the brokerage business using online resources like Freight Broker Bootcamp, YouTube, and TIA’s Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) program. I built the brokerage from the ground up — establishing systems, a website, onboarding processes, and vendor relationships that are still in place today. - Created the brokerage division from scratch and launched it into full operations. - Designed onboarding and compliance systems for shippers, vendors, and carriers. - Oversaw dispatch, billing, and customer service with strong process control. - Built long-term partnerships with regional and national shippers across the Pacific Northwest. - Negotiated contracts balancing competitive pricing and service quality. - Implemented digital workflows to improve visibility, tracking, and communications. What began as an idea evolved into a successful, self-sustaining brokerage operation that continues to thrive today.

Operations Manager
Sunshine Trucking, LLC
Greater Seattle Area
Sunshine Trucking was a much larger carrier with its own fleet as well as owner-operators. Here, I refined my operational and leadership skills — negotiating fair rates with independent drivers, coordinating large-scale dispatch, and helping design systems that improved overall efficiency. I learned how to work with multiple vendors, carriers, and major shippers while engineering smarter supply chain flow systems. I also played a key role in developing new lanes, launching a transloading facility, and defining performance metrics across departments. - Negotiated equitable rates with owner-operators and coordinated dispatch scheduling. - Worked with multiple vendors and carriers to streamline supply chain efficiency. - Performed analytics to forecast driver and truck utilization for seasonal demand. - Developed new lanes and partnerships with major Fortune 500 companies. - Helped design and oversee a new transloading facility that became a preferred delivery hub. -Defined and implemented KPIs for dispatch, account management, and administrative staff.

Personal Assistant To Chief Executive Officer

This is where my journey in logistics began. A close friend had started a trucking company a few years earlier and needed help running the office. I needed a job and was eager to learn. He taught me everything about the business — from finding and onboarding drivers to purchasing and maintaining trucks, managing DOT compliance, and handling customer communication. I learned how to sell, how to cold call and visit warehouses to secure direct contracts, and how to work with brokers to keep trucks moving. I also mastered the back-office side — from collecting paperwork and billing customers to managing receivables and tracking payments. Within 2–3 months, I had learned every aspect of the company and was confidently handling operations on my own. - Managed day-to-day dispatch and driver coordination. - Assisted with equipment purchasing and DOT/safety compliance. - Handled accounting functions, including billing and collections. - Built relationships with brokers and customers to secure consistent freight. Learned every phase of trucking operations from the ground up.
