Gurashish Singh Sahni

Hi! I am Gurashish Singh Sani, Co-Founder and COO of ReCircle. My journey began 9 years ago at the Deonar Landfill, where I first confronted a startling paradox: India is the world’s fifth-largest economy and also one of its biggest polluters. That day, Rahul and I knew something had to change. We quickly realized that fixing waste meant we first had to fix how the system worked. Since then, we’ve been working to bend a broken, linear model into something circular. Our work is powered by a growing pan-India network of Safai Saathis, collection partners and recyclers. Together, we’ve recovered over 1,00,000 metric tonnes of waste from landfills and oceans. Today, at ReCircle, I lead strategy across operations, sales, and business development, building systems that empower businesses to meet their EPR mandates and lead the shift towards ethical circularity. My mission is to shift waste from the sidelines and into policy frameworks. Sometimes that looks like speaking at TEDx or working on policy with the government or walking through a material recovery facility, asking ‘what’s next?’ Either way, I’m always pushing to build a world where no waste and no life ever goes to waste. Over the years our Journey has been recognized by accolades such as Fortune 40Under40, BW Social Impact Leader in Recycling (2022), and gaining the privilege of sharing ReCircle’s latest projects in prominent publications such as Hindustan Times and Telegraph. ReCircle didn’t start as a startup. It started at a landfill. We’ve come a long way since Deonar but we’re still grounded in the same mission: close the loop, empower every life, and bring waste full circle.
