Ruchi Gupta
Executive Director @ Future of India Foundation
About
Ruchi Gupta is a public policy leader from India with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of democratic governance, institutional reform, and political strategy. She has worked at the highest levels of policymaking at both state and national levels, advancing accountability, inclusion, and youth opportunity. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Future of India Foundation, a non-partisan institution focused on harnessing India’s demographic and democratic dividend. She leads YouthPOWER, India’s first and only district-level youth opportunity & accountability platform - an integrated evidence base combining 21 government datasets to assess youth empowerment and opportunity across all ~800 districts of India. The initiative supports elected representatives in translating data into responsive, youth-focused development strategies. Previously, Ruchi led India’s largest progressive student and youth organization, with over 4 million registered members. In 2016, she played a key role in a rare parliamentary milestone—helping secure an amendment to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha, only the fifth such instance in independent India’s history. The amendment defended the right of all citizens to contest local elections. A former McKinsey consultant and Aspen Global Leadership Fellow, she is also a widely published columnist, with over 150 articles on political economy, democratic transitions, and technology governance in leading Indian publications.

Executive Director
Delhi, India
I lead the Future of India Foundation, a policy and civic-tech institution building democratic infrastructure for youth opportunity in the world’s largest democracy. We build national public goods that combine district-level data, institutional tracking, and youth narratives, using India as a scale case with global relevance. Key platforms: • YouthPOWER: District-level mapping of youth opportunity across all of India’s ~800 districts, covering education, skills, employment, and local economies. • Parliament Tracker: Longitudinal tracking of legislative engagement on youth employment and economic transition. • Tracking Indian Youth: A distributed media fellowship capturing youth lived experience to inform policy discourse. In parallel, we conduct strategic research on the democratic and labour-market impacts of emerging technologies, including AI and disinformation, with a focus on institutional readiness, governance gaps, and employment transitions.
