I'm a Venezuelan entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in the cryptocurrency industry. My passion for stablecoins, free markets, real-time payments, and financial inclusion has driven my career. My journey began in 2013 as a finance student in Caracas, where I first encountered Bitcoin. Amid Venezuela's hyperinflation, I saw Bitcoin as a beacon of hope for financial inclusion and an alternative for those dealing with restrictive foreign exchange regulations. I founded one of the first Bitcoin mining companies in Latin America, securing local angel investors' support to import Bitcoin miners from China and establish mining farms. I also became an avid user of Localbitcoins, leveraging the platform to access dollars and explore arbitrage opportunities. This experience solidified my belief in the power of free markets and peer-to-peer exchanges, particularly in economically strained regions like Venezuela and Argentina. My involvement in co-organizing the Ethereum Venezuela community supported by the Ethereum Foundation further demonstrated my commitment to fostering innovation and community-building within the crypto space. The culmination of my experiences led to the creation of El Dorado in 2020, alongside my co-founders Juan Andreu and Carlos Fontes. El Dorado, a stablecoin-powered payments SuperApp, aims to provide financial connectivity and inclusion across Latin America. Under my leadership, the company has achieved remarkable growth, participating in the prestigious Skydeck accelerator at the University of California at Berkeley and securing a $3M seed round with investors like Multicoin Capital and Coinbase Ventures. Today, El Dorado boasts over 1,000,000 users and 4 million P2P transactions, revolutionizing how people in Latin America save, earn and exchange money. My journey, rooted in experiences with hyperinflation and financial adversity in Venezuela, continues to inspire my mission to create efficient and transparent markets, empowering individuals through stablecoin products.
