Before that I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Previously I hold a position as an Assistant Research Scientist at University of Florida – Gainesville, and a National Research Scientist at the International Potato Center (CIP-CGIAR). I hold a 3-year Post Doc at University of Florida - Gainesville; a PhD degree in Production Ecology & Resource Conservation from Wageningen University and Research Center - The Netherlands. Also, a Master degree in Crop Production, and a Bachelor degree in Meteorology. As part of a team, I achieved grants for research projects totaling US$4.3 million in the US; and in Peru, as CEO of the National Weather and Hydrology Service S/.73.3 (~US$19.5) million. I'm expert in translating data and research on climate, soils, agronomic management and crop genetics into valuable, simple and understandable information for users and their decision-making. Expert in the development of sensors and field monitoring devices and digital tools to improve crop. I'm a software and hardware developer. My current projects are targeted at developing systems based on deterministic, statistical and stochastic models to improve agricultural stakeholder's decision making, and predict agricultural risk due to climate variability and change. I integrate many of the solutions I've created to GIS technology.
