OptionS Bois was set up with a business partner in April 2009 to provide design solutions for local timber frame builders and carpenters. In accordance with French building laws a professional insurance with a ten year warranty period with Lloyd’s was contracted. I used two professional softwares; Cadwork a 3D and 2D CAO/DAO software specialising in timber, and Acord-Bat, a 2D timber design software. - Timber design: design calculations on various projects such as timber frame houses, traditional trusses and Glulam structures for public buildings. - Drawings: 3D and 2D drawings for the different projects. Using Cadwork production of fabrication drawings for builders and manufacturers as well as technical drawings for on site uses and detailing specific technical solutions. In addition, my role as manager involved maintaining the day to day contact with the clients, securing contracts and following the development of our projects. I also visited potential business partners, such as architects, carpenters, manufacturers and timber frame builders to introduce them to our company.
