I began working in the telecommunications field in 2011 at Bell Technicial Solutions. I first began my telecommunications journey learning telephone, adsl, adsl2 and Vdsl internet over the copper network. In August 2011 I was selected by management to be one of the first 3 technicians to be trained in fibre optic installation and repairs in the Peterborough dispatch location. A few years later I was selected to become a new hire trainer and skill upgrade trainer for Peterborough area, and then shortly after I became a “white glove” trained technician as well which meant I would be sent to high repeat tickets and vip customer jobs. I was also selected by my peers as one of the health and safety representatives for the area. I left BTS to obtain a full time position with Nexicom where I could bring all my skills and knowledge with me to help them grow with the many projects we have started since I was hired. Since coming to nexicom I learned other new skills such as basic rf systems, security alarm systems, wireless line of site technology and construction planning. I was promoted to supervisor at Nexicom in summer of 2022 where I have been able to restructure our dispatch and scheduling system to become more efficient and organized and also began supervising the construction and GIS team and worked on creating more budget friendly fibre builds as well as organize the department to ensure fibre builds are released quickly and efficiently. In 2023 I promoted to Outside Plant Project Specialist, in this role I am responsible for planning new network builds, creating and editing autoCAD drawings, create the splicing documents, inspect contractors work and approve payments, communicate with municipalities for approval and provide finished as-builts and also to continue to supervise the Nexicom Construction and GIS team.
