Managing Director
About
A proven leader, influencer and self motivated individual who develops solutions and provides management direction to solve complex marketing, engineering, product development or operational problems in the areas of capital goods and mining. How to join the dots of my 28 years at Caterpillar? It’s quite simple: from Development engineer to Global Product manager, it is about solving complex problems with a unique skill set to understand customer problems, being the customer advocate and finding solutions to make positive progress possible. Career examples are moving to Perth to advise the newly formed WesTrac about their poorly performing service operations, being sent to USA to buy back badly performing Hydraulic excavator model or transferring Caterpillar knowledge to a newly acquired Caterpillar company in Tasmania to improve their customer performance. I moved to Singapore as Asia Pacific Service Engineering manager to ensure that Asian manufacturing plants were solving customer problems and in one case, stopped backhoe production in India for 6 months to “make it right” for the customer. I lived in Thailand as Bangkok district manager to work with poorly performing Dealer principals in Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand, inviting them to focus on their customers or leave the business. I then returned to Tasmania as Global Underground Product Manager to take control of a situation whereby there were many product problems and no tangible strategy to fix these issues or develop new products. In this role, I regained control, fixed product issues, launched new products and posted a record USD 750 million dollars in revenue and more than USD 100 million dollars in profit in 2012. I have had many assignments or totally different jobs under one umbrella company called Caterpillar. This is because the Caterpillar managers or Vice Presidents understood my hard working nature to solve problems and make positive progress possible for the Caterpillar and customers.
