My time working in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering was focused on assisting students as well as faculty and prospective students in the department. I handled the up-keeping of students' grades and paperwork of students. In addition, I acted as a receptionist for the department answering telephone calls and responding to emails.

I had the great opportunity of volunteering as an assistant researcher at the National High Magnetic's Field Laboratory, I work on two different projects: Specific neural activation in abdominal ganglion of aplysia Californica by neurotransmitters using high field Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography and Mapping Neural Networks in Aplysia Californica Using High Field Magnetic Imaging. I worked on a 11.75 T magnet in order to determine a) the activation of neurotransmitters in neuronal networks and the activation site, and b) map the interior networks of the abdominal ganglion. The techniques utilized in this research included different types of MRI imaging, including Magnetic Resonace Electrical Impedance Tomography (MREIT) and Diffuser Tensor Imaging (DTI). During my research experience, I was award a total of three sponosrships/scholarships totaling over $8,000. These include scholarships from Florida State University and an REU from the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.

Serving with the chemical engineering portion of my degree, my focus of work is at a design center for water and wastewater treatment facilities. I am the project manager for the summer intern project where I plan and coordinate tasks for team members, as well as set deadlines and meetings. I have worked with static simulation software on processes to determine a selection of materials and equipment. I also utilize software and vendors to process budgetary information, such as NPV and equipment selection. My work is spread out through many different divisions in the company, process mechanical, I&C and structural. Skills honed in during my time include analyzing P&ID, budgetary analyses, presentations (written and oral), and software simulations.

Prepared material and research for a guest presentation for MS-3 Medicine students titled “Birth Alternatives”

* Support eight critical sub-assemblies incorporated in the production of canisters for the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) missile defense program. * Collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineers to troubleshoot and determine root-cause analyses on non-conformance; cause and corrective actions are then put into effect to eliminate re-occurrences of the defect. * Interpret engineering drawings to develop and improve current operating procedures on the production floor. * Test, quantify, and implement equipment based on data driven decisions while adhering to company and military standards.
