Grace Phan

Grace has been an award-winning broadcast journalist and documentary filmmaker, as well as a capital markets practitioner with over two decades of cumulative experience in the financial markets, media and communications and strategic diplomacy. She served as a senior ministerial advisor and speechwriter for five years. During her time as a top anchor with CNBC, she was named Best News Presenter in the Asian Television Awards - the industry’s highest distinction - and Best News Anchor finalist in the New York Festivals. Her feature documentary 'Where the Sun Rises: A Hero’s Journey' exploring post-conflict forgiveness and reconciliation, filmed in East Timor and Indonesia, won Amnesty International’s Movies that Matter Award and was invited to screen at the United Nations. Grace's essays and op-eds have been published in Foreign Affairs and The Diplomat. Harper’s Bazaar recognised her as one of the '10 Most Influential Women of the New Power Generation'. An adventurer and high performance equestrian, Grace competes in endurance riding up to 100 km (CEI 1*), and trains in dressage, show jumping and polo. She is also a microlight aircraft pilot, scuba diver and (wildlife) filmmaker, and has participated in filming expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula and in underwater shoots with sharks and oceanic mantas. She is a lifelong learner.
