Gonzalo Martinez

I am a Geo with a Master degree in Mineral Processing and Geometallurgy. My academic background has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges posed by raw material scarcity and the pivotal role that mineral processing plays in the global value chain. My studies have further instilled in me a deep appreciation for the principles of the circular economy and the growing importance of sustainability within the resources industry. My academic journey has taken me through four leading European institutions — Université de Liège (Belgium), L'École nationale supérieure de géologie (France), Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) and TU Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany), where I have gained a diverse and well-rounded skill set. These experiences have provided me with a thorough understanding of the complexities inherent to the resource sector, enabling me to navigate both technical and interdisciplinary challenges. In addition to my academic achievements, I bring hands-on experience in lithium brine exploration and processing design. I have worked extensively on the exploration of salars in the Andean belt of northwestern Argentina, where I developed expertise in the geological and environmental factors that govern the formation and distribution of lithium brine deposits. My technical skills include geological mapping, geophysical surveying, and geochemical data analysis. Furthermore, I have gained critical project management experience, including planning and engineering for the commercial production phase of lithium projects. I am deeply committed to applying my expertise in both academic and industrial contexts to advance sustainable and responsible practices. I believe that the integration of my knowledge in both geology and mineral processing provides a unique perspective that can significantly contribute to addressing the challenges faced by the resource industry.
