During my voluntary placement whilst at university i have been able to undertake such tasks as. Working alongside building and rural surveyors to deliver various projects and routine maintenance to a client brief. Producing tender documents; including full specifications, prelims and drawings. Liaising with tenants and property staff. Researching materials and sustainable alternatives to common problems, such as insulation and energy use. Liaising with contractors and issuing job sheets to an in house labour team. Maintaining files and records both physical and electronic.

During my building surveying degree worked part time for Davies Turner, my time there gave me experiences such as. Taking charge of a team of people delegating tasks and ensuring targets are met. Taking on the role of supervisor within the department to cover sickness and holiday. Producing new protocols and procedures on new contracts undertaken by the company. Often required to work lengthy hours and weekends whilst still studying for my degree.

Stock control to include stock taking, ordering and rotation. Computer work using various Windows programs. Maintaining the stores high standard of appearance. Charge hand training whilst covering holidays and sickness.

Managing all aspects of staffing – interviews, training, job development, staff levels and rotas. Doing the daily takings, monthly accounts, wages and banking. Organising stocks to maintain levels and distribute goods. General shop management such as opening and closing, health and safety, maintaining a clean and hygienic shop.

Advertising at trade fairs and following up enquiries. Sourcing wholesale products, such as canned drinks and snacks, for outlets and negotiating prices. Cold calling various outlets in order to acquire new customers. Logistics for 3 vans, to cover the South West and Hampshire. Contracting to deliver nationwide. Daily invoicing using the ‘Sage’ accounts package.
