Lecturing and Research in Mass Communication

Research and distribute results through academic conference presentations and publication in top-notch peer-reviewed academic jounals

* Develop and implement media liaison strategy * Coordinate media communication activities. * Liaise with the media to ensure sound and interactive relationship between the Provincial government and the media * Effective management of resources within the directorate to achieve the directorate’s strategic objectives * Coordinate media campaigns of both the Office of the Premier and the Provincial Government * Ensure the positive profiling of the Premier in the media * Write media statements, promos, media advisories and public service announcements * Arrange press conferences and media briefings * Ensure media publicity for provincial events and campaigns * Manage and attend to media inquiries on services and programmes of the provincial government, maintain and update media database, update departmental website and manage the production of audio visual material * Manage the development and production of communication material, and promote departmental image.

Lectured Communication and Radio and TV Journalism as well as a special course called Language, Attitude and World View, designed for Sociology and Psychology students from the University of South Africa.

* In charge of content, order, news judgement & production of all news programmes, overseeing live news transmission * Compiling & sub-editing the bulletins * Making sure that all stories are error free * Legally correct and properly attributed * Determining the running order of stories * Ensuring relevance & quality of the final product * Liaising with bureaus across the country and journalists in the field * Ensuring that all stories of the day are covered, taking overall responsibility for the bulletin. * Also involved in training TV journalists from other parts of Africa. Assisted with the management of the assignment desk. * Assisted with the production of news and current affairs shows for Mmabatho FM and Radio Bop.

* Coordinating academic and administrative activities of the programme * Ensuring synergy and alignment in the performance of job roles * Providing high-level academic leadership through enhancement of teaching * Research and community service activities * Ensuring operational efficiencies and strategic outputs of the department * Conducting high-level scientific qualitative and quantitative research and disseminating results through publication in top notch peer-reviewed ISI/DoHET accredited journals and presentations at refereed national and international conferences * Managing and maintaining effective departmental publications * Lectured a broad range of Journalism, Corporate Communication, Media Relations and Media Studies courses and this included setting and marking assessments as well as supervising research students. * Also served as a Curriculum Specialist in the Faculty and spearheaded the re-curriculation of the new qualifications envisaged for 2015.

* Assisted with language instruction at the Shimabara Board of Education in the Nagasaki Prefecture * Assisted in the preparation of teaching materials; Edited and produced pamphlets in English * Assisted with translations of Unzen Volcano Museum narratives * Assisted with coordination of communication activities of the local board of government and the Unzen Memorial.
