Research activities: a) Development and assessment of high-performance steel and composite structures for the protection of civil infrastructure against extreme natural or man-induced hazards, e.g. strong earthquakes and progressive collapse. b) Improved design methodologies for steel and composite structural members. c) Development of novel methods for increased sustainability in construction, with special focus on the potential for deconstruction and reuse of structural members and materials at the end of the service life of a building.
