CIO @ EverQuote

About

Senior technology and security executive with 14 years at a public technology company — the most tenured employee — including 11 years as CIO through IPO, SOX 404b compliance, and enterprise-wide technology leadership. Now leading cybersecurity strategy, AI enablement, and AI risk governance as the company transitions into agentic AI.I set the vision, design the architecture, and stay hands-on in the build. I designed the control logic, queries, and reports that power our SOX IT controls program and led the team that built the containerized automation platform running them. I operated as program owner and controls manager from inception through three consecutive years of zero audit deficiencies — and the program is now mature enough that I’m transitioning day-to-day operations to a dedicated IT controls manager, freeing me to focus on AI governance and emerging security challenges. My team and I applied the same approach to our centralized security data lake, where I defined the architecture and integration strategy and contributed to the implementation alongside my security architect and engineering team, building a platform that integrates software supply chain inventory, CI/CD telemetry, cloud security events, and attack surface mapping and that dramatically reduced our audit and security review scope. My career sits at a rare intersection: deep cybersecurity and compliance expertise, hands-on engineering ability, and a forward-looking vision for responsible AI. I’ve built and developed high-performing teams across security operations, IT General Controls, ML systems (prediction, anomaly detection, experimental design), cloud infrastructure, programmatic acquisition platforms, and board-level risk reporting — while remaining a contributing architect and engineer in the platforms I oversee. I translate technical risk into business terms for executives, audit committees, and board members, and I develop the people who sustain those programs alongside me.Currently focused on the problems most companies are just waking up to: securing agentic coding workflows, governing LLM-assisted development, building AI risk frameworks, and ensuring that AI enablement and security aren’t opposing forces but the same discipline.
