On-call Bio-medical Photographer

Produce technically challenging photographs of exterior and interior merchandise displays for the award-winning Visual Merchandising team of Nordstrom's flagship Seattle store.

As an industrial/biomedical photographer for UW Creative, I photographed whatever was put in front of me--dead or alive. With the rest of my time I worked as an industrial and editorial photographer for the University at large. My favorite jobs have always been environmental portraits of staff, faculty and students. I have been fortunate that my job allowed me to work throughout the Puget Sound area with such organizations as Boeing, Alaska Airlines, Zymogenetics, Microsoft, and Intel.

Supervised custom services arm of a large retail and wholesale photo-finishing lab. Produced custom photographic prints from miniature to mural size using computerized commercial enlargers and wide-format roller-transport print processors. Developed and implemented workshops, in-service training, demonstrations, displays, and related projects. Set color standards for all studio and lab operations. Extensively modified commercial color processing equipment for use in high-volume, black & white film and print production.

Photographed horse-racing events at tracks located throughout the United States. Produced finished composite photographs for next-day delivery to racehorse owners, trainers and jockeys. Coordinated with race track event staff to produce photographic and video marketing materials, as well as provide and operate audio-visual equipment for special events. Installed, operated, maintained, modified and repaired highly specialized, 70mm, slit-cameras and timing equipment. Operated audio and video control boards for live and simulcast horse racing. Set lighting, microphones, and video cameras for live race commentary.

Managed busy professional retail photography store. Hired, trained and supervised employees. Ordered, stocked and sold equipment and supplies. Conceived and implemented unique and successful marketing strategies. Organized and maintained accounts-receivable and accounts-payable files. Assisted in creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases to track business growth.
