Gaurav Sharma
GPU Shader Core ASIC Design & Verification Intern @ AMD
About
GPU Design Verification Engineer with end-to-end pre-silicon DV experience across industry and open-source GPU projects. At AMD, I designed and verified GPU shader core logic on next-generation RDNA SoCs — owning the full flow from RTL lint and CDC (SpyGlass) through synthesis (Synopsys DC), STA (PrimeTime), formal verification, and regression closure. I optimized decode logic reducing native build area by 13.7% and improved silicon bring-up stability across 3+ GPU generations. At the Vortex RISC-V GPGPU project (Georgia Tech), I built UVM environments from scratch with constrained-random stimulus, SVA assertions, and functional coverage models — driving regression closure to >95% on targeted GPU IP blocks in Cadence Xcelium.Core skills: SystemVerilog · UVM · SVA · Formal Verification (Jasper, Libra SEQ) · Constrained-Random Verification · Coverage Closure · CDC · STA · Timing Closure · GPU Microarchitecture · RISC-V · RTL Design · SpyGlass · Synopsys DC · PrimeTimeMS ECE, University of Washington (GPA: 3.90) | Teaching Assistant: GPU Hardware Design on FPGA for AIOpen to GPU DV, ASIC DV, and RTL Design roles at semiconductor companies.📧 grs9@uw.edu

Experience

Hardware Engineering Co-op
Seattle, Washington, United States
-Involved in the project 'Home Presence Detection and Localization using Wi-Fi CSI' at Amazon Lab126, with the goal of creating a system that detects human presence in homes with a True Positive rate above 90%, utilizing Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI). -Tasked with the development of code for the collection, analysis, and preprocessing of CSI data. Hardware Lead for the ESP32 microcontroller implementation. -Responsible for algorithm design to localize individuals in relation to Wi-Fi access points or devices within a home, ensuring the system's effectiveness across diverse radio frequency environments.

Summer Internship
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
◦ Designed a project on ‘Understanding Hadoop Installation and Big Data Technologies’. Adapted to Handloom Installation with components namely Apache Flume, Apache Spark, and Apache Hive. ◦ Contributed in creating a framework for accessing third parties and further performing onsite and remote assessments for them
