I maintained a wide area network of 20 3Com routers and 550 workstations and servers. I installed new company sites throughout the United States. I developed a centralized help desk system located in Long Beach. I installed Intel LanDesk Manager Suite and Intel Virus Protect throughout the company and developed a HP Openview solution to monitor the LAN and WAN.

I was brought in to support the United States Bankruptcy Courts Information Technologies Division (USBC/ITD) on day to day NOS/LAN/WAN issues/upgrades and projects in five divisional offices. The project included the upgrade of switches through the removal of all hubs and installation of 3Com 3300 switches. Additionally, a Corebuilder 3500 was added to provide three layer switching for the management of three IP segments. I assisted the Automation Support Group in the implementation of Landesk, SMS, and Manage Wise within a test environment for evaluation purposes. I provided extensive documentation of all LAN systems included in the project.

I maintained a wide area network for Canon Business Machines and for Canon Japan. The local area network for Canon Business Machines included 175 workstations, 2 Novell servers, 8 UNIX workstations (HP 9000 and Sun Sparc 20’s) and 1 NT 4.0 server running as a SMTP/POP3/WEB server. I designed several Web pages for the NT server. I maintained the E-mail system and had installed LanDesk Virus Protect 4.0 for virus protection. I upgraded the servers’ back-up software to Backup Exec from Seagate. I was in charge of buying all the new equipment for the WAN and LAN, which included switches, hubs, servers and workstations. In addition, I was the acting systems administrator for all the servers.

I went into the hospital on Nov 30, 2011 and had a second surgery in June of 2012 which caused me to be in bed for 6 months afterwards. I was diagnosis with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Symdrome) which is a chronic pain condition that can affect any area of the body, but often affects an arm or a leg.

I was brought in as a consultant to Internal Services Department (ISD) to assess their current services. Upon review, I wrote a proposal to implement an out-sourcing pilot for network services within The County. The pilot was the basis for a performa and later a business plan. Included in the business plan was a feasibility study on the out-sourcing of network services and a cost benefit study for ISD and other agencies within LA County. The business plan was then submitted for approval. Upon approval I went before the ISD Executive Board with a $1.5 million budget request. Once approved, I managed two departments. I was responsible for hiring support personnel to implement the network services offering. I was responsible for responding to the RFP’s from the District Attorney and the Superior Court offices, for the out-sourcing of their network servicing departments. Our responses included a summary of our available services and a cost benefit study.
