Engineer
Subsea Integrity Management Engineer. In this role I have been developing quantitative tools to aid our clients in developing their integrity management (IM) strategies. The tool is designed to move our clients away from a system based on individuals knowledge and experience and towards one of centralised data storage, information sharing, quantitative analysis and auditable strategy development. The tool provides a systematic approach to the process a graphical presentation of results to aid interpretation (RBI, Bow Ties and Risk Matrix). I also provide engineering services support for the tool, creating clients IM deliverables; including FMECAs, Risk Based Inspection analysis and reports and procedural documents. Highlights: - Integrated tool across BP Global (exceeding our initial 2015 target of 2 assets). - Tool found to reduce man-hour required to complete FMECA process by 75%. - Modularised tool inputs to improve accuracy and auditability of financial analysis. - Part of small team that has secured multi-million euro contracts despite large-scale industry downturn and redundancies. - Developed Dashboard tool for KPI tracking. - Leading senior engineers in integrity management process. Previously this process was done by a 3rd party. - Working directly with clients in multiple geographic locations (through Skype and travel to clients offices). - Work has resulted in vastly expanded contract for 2016. - Reduced size of documents such as operational management and integrity management procedures by a factor of 10 by removing superfluous content and only presenting the necessary information in clear and concise form.

Doctoral Researcher
Topic: Lossy compression of bioelectric signals while maintaining and preserving diagnostically relevant information. • Determined acceptable levels of fidelity loss (due to compression) of EEG signals using SVM and provided equitable values for general fidelity loss metric (PRD). • Designed, ran and correlated results for a large number of simulations. Presented the findings in clear and concise manner in multiple journal publications. • Designed methodology to create bit-error protection scheme for ECG signals such that bandwidth, BER and diagnostic performance targets could be met (thesis chapter). • Used SVM and ROC curves as novel approach to analyse information loss in EEG signals. This had been difficult to measure historically due to the nature of EEG signals.

• Oversaw the operation of supervisors for undergraduate laboratories • Managed the correction of laboratory reports and ensured results were accurately recorded • Mentored new PhD students in laboratory supervision • Manned the engineering stand at NUIG Open Days • Set up laboratory equipment and demonstrated its operation to undergraduates • Mentored final year students with biomedical signal processing projects
