Expanded responsibilities to include management of the company's intellectual property portfolio and heading the development of AI policies and governance in close collaboration with our Engineering, Data Science, Marketing and Product teams.

Built out the company's privacy function, establishing new processes and policies for matters such as data subject requests and employee privacy. Supported Sales and Customer Success teams in contract drafting and negotiation, particularly to address data protection matters aligned to the needs of the company's multinational clientele. Held a key role in development of the company's fledgling Procurement function.

Built out the compliance function for the company's North American region, advising on a range of matters including privacy and data protection, anti-bribery and corruption, trade controls, supplier due diligence, and corporate social responsibility. Created and delivered compliance training, conducted investigations into misconduct, developed policies and procedures, and represented Legal on a cross-functional Global Engagement Council.

Began my in-house legal career in a nonprofit in the microfinance space, working as part of a small legal team drafting and revising a range of contracts and internal policies and providing counsel across various departments, including HR and Finance, on global legal and regulatory issues. Led the initiative to update the organization’s data security policies and practices in response to GDPR and other privacy regulations.

Conducted legal research into the practices and policies of the U.S. Census as part of Harvard University’s Privacy Tools Project, a multidisciplinary effort aimed at finding ways of sharing research data while protecting privacy interests.

Advised MIT students involved in the creation of new technologies and research of the legal dimensions of their work across areas as diverse as health law, intellectual property, cybercrime, the Freedom of Information Act, and privacy law.
