Deputy Editor at Toy World Magazine, the leading UK toy trade magazine. Toy World is a B2B magazine covering toy industry content on print and digital platforms.

An editorial position in which I am required to produce articles for the publication’s music section. These include artist profiles and interviews. This role has given me the opportunity to develop my interviewing skills as well as effectively communicate with PR representatives to arrange interviews. It has also helped to develop my writing in the lifestyle journalism sector and deliver articles that appeal to a young target audience.

As an intern, I am required to help the team with some of their day-to-day tasks. Some of the tasks I carry out include reading through press releases to ensure that they are well written and ready to be sent out, as well as putting together monthly reports for some of the brands they represent.

One of the key projects for my final year of university has been to help run as well as produce news pieces and feature articles for my course’s digital news site targeting young adults. During my time completing this module, I was able to learn to handle multiple tasks including researching content for my own articles and helping colleagues with their own story ideas; proofreading content, and overseeing the layout and organisation of the site to ensure that stories were well presented. I also learned organisational skills as I was in charge of scheduling posts and abiding by a timetable. Attached are two of my news features. One is about maskne (acne caused by facemasks), in which I interviewed both expert dermatologists and individuals affected by this issue. The other one is about the current pressures faced by young people in the UK to sustain a living, in which I interviewed several people in their twenties who are affected by the situation.

A reporting position whereby I could work from home and send articles to the publisher. I was required to pick topics from a monthly brief as well as pitch my own ideas and write up articles for the No Majesty website. This role provided me with communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

I was selected (with around 15 other students) out of 300+ applicants at the University of Westminster to participate in a week-long Westminster Working Cultures networking programme in Berlin, Germany.

I took part in Postcards From Smoke, a documentary series by Smoke Radio. In this project, I had the opportunity to travel to Nice and film as well as co-direct one of their episodes. My colleague and I explored the city and reported on some of the best tourist attractions.

A volunteer role within the hospital radio station, where I was able to develop my skills as a radio presenter and producer. I was responsible for putting together show plans and coming up with unique show ideas each week. I was required to communicate and interact with other members of the show in order to deliver and broadcast the radio show professionally. I used Myriad radio software in order to produce and engineer the show professionally.

I attended the University of Westminster and completed an undergraduate degree in Journalism. I received a first class honours and achieved 70% and above in most of my projects, which is only one of the many examples to demonstrate my diligence and care for producing work that is to a great standard.
