Asia SAF Association (ASAFA) is Asia's first independent non-profit dedicated to advancing the adoption and integration of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across Asia. As ASAFA's Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), I lead the development and execution of strategies, operations, and policies to advance our mission of sustainable aviation. I create and implement plans that align with ASAFA's goals, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation in the industry. I stay on top of legislative and regulatory changes that affect sustainable aviation fuel, analyzing their impact and advocating for policies that support our objectives. I also work closely with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to build partnerships and drive meaningful change in the sector.

As the leader of a team comprising 7 direct reports spanning Singapore, China, South Korea, and Japan, I drove the operations of the Refinery and Marine Fuel additives business. Crafting strategic plans for sustained profitability in emerging segments, I meticulously managed business P&L targets, including key metrics such as gross margins, operating expenses, and fixed costs. My initiatives resulted in the successful development of new business opportunities in Marine Fuel Additives, emphasizing brand building, industry collaboration, and customized customer solutions. Acknowledged as an exemplary leader with top-tier engagement and talent development ratings in annual employee assessments, I spearheaded pioneering endeavors like implementing LinkedIn Learning for continuous skill enhancement and orchestrated global sustainability initiatives aimed at achieving ambitious net-zero targets.

I crafted the foundational framework for business exploration and scouting potential opportunities in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). By identifying capability and technology gaps critical for long-term growth, I laid the groundwork for strategic alignment and future success in emerging markets and ventures.

As a key member of the global marketing team headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas, I played a pivotal role in shaping the global strategy and innovation pipeline for a US$130 million global Fuel Additives business. Focused on expanding market reach, I spearheaded the development of a new business strategy tailored specifically for Middle Eastern and Russian oil refineries, leveraging insights to drive growth and market penetration in these regions.

In overseeing 2 regional managers in Hong Kong and Singapore, I managed the portfolio of polyisobutylene (PIB), automotive, and aviation additives. I led the investment strategy for the development of China 2020 branded fuel, strategically positioning the company for growth in a key market. Exceeding targets, I achieved double-digit revenue growth in ASEAN and Greater China, demonstrating effective market penetration and revenue generation strategies. Additionally, I spearheaded numerous successful biofuels technical and commercial projects in collaboration with National Oil Companies, driving innovation and sustainable solutions in the industry.

I led comprehensive technical product development and market analysis initiatives in the field of fuel additives. With a specialized certification as a Fuel Additives Technical Expert, gained through a dedicated three-month program in Germany, I honed my expertise in the intricacies of the industry. Additionally, I was selected as a candidate for the prestigious Asia Pacific Program of Leadership Excellence (APPLE), highlighting my early potential for personal growth and leadership development.

I achieved annual savings of US$1 million through the implementation of real-time process modeling and optimization techniques. Additionally, I served as the lead engineer for a US$20 million plant upgrade project, overseeing its successful execution and contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and productivity.
