Fuzhou Wang

I am a computational biologist dedicated to advancing precision oncology through advanced genomic analysis. Currently, I am conducting postdoctoral research at the National Cancer Center Japan. ​My current focus: ​Long-read Data Analysis: Leveraging sequencing data from TGS technologies (PacBio/Nanopore) to computationally resolve complex genomic structures that short reads cannot capture. ​Pangenome Analysis: Moving beyond the single linear reference genome to capture the full spectrum of genetic diversity and heterogeneity in cancer. ​Genomic "Dark Matter": Investigating challenging genomic regions (e.g., repetitive elements, complex structural variants) to uncover novel mechanisms of tumorigenesis. ​My background: I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the City University of Hong Kong, where I specialized in 3D Genomics and computational biology. ​While my doctoral research focused on developing algorithms for chromatin organization, my current work pivots towards high-resolution sequence analysis. My strong foundation in Computer Science and algorithms enables me to tackle the computational challenges inherent in processing massive, complex long-read datasets. ​I am passionate about leveraging these cutting-edge sequencing technologies to reveal the hidden complexities of the cancer genome.
