OCEC is a grassroots cooperative that is working to bring local generation to Oxford. With Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm achieving commercial operation the cooperative is looking ahead to 2017 to begin their next renewable generation venture. Currently, OCEC has received approval for solar projects under the Ontario FIT program and will be releasing more information regarding investment opportunities in the new year.

* The Future Oxford: A Community Sustainability Plan sets out the community's vision for how we will manage community, environmental and economic resources for Oxford County's future growth and wellbeing. The final draft Plan, which can be viewed at www.futureoxford.ca. sets out 70 distinct actions including: * Reducing the percentage of Oxford County residents living in poverty * Increasing the number of residences with post-secondary education; * Increasing participation in arts, recreation, and cultural activities; * Growing jobs relative to population growth; * Encourage production and consumption of locally produced food and products, and achieving the * highest total waste diversion rate per capita in Ontario. * As Program Director I will be identifying and communicating with stakeholder groups to promote cooperation, enthusiasm and commitment towards the attainment of common goals to further the Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan initiatives in a way that maximizes resources, eliminates duplication and creates opportunities.
