In this role I manage daily mine operations (Open pit, Underground Operations, Process Plant and other support services), contract tendering, business partner (contractor) management, owner team and systems development, and production fulfilment. I develop and integrate growth-based operational strategies, monitor compliance of procedures with company regulations and financial guidelines, and maximize profitability by drafting and implementing innovative short, medium, and long-term business plans. I lead the team to optimize annual operational budget, capital budget, and expenditure, facilitate exceptional stakeholder and employee relationship management, and head recruitment. I head the process to scout for exceptional employees suiting specific role requirements, train and develop site team in exceeding financial and operational specifications, and boost safety by constantly monitoring employee adherence to safety and mining statutory codes. I perform the duties of the General Manger in his absence.

In this role I set performance targets, measured, monitored and managed overall performance of employees and/or business partners at the Underground (UG) Mine. Effectively managed the annual operating and capital budgets for mine operations, consistent with Asante Gold’s established financial guidelines and business planning process. Formulated and executed strategies that support the growth of mine operations; ensured strategies are linked to the organization’s overall strategy. Advised and cooperated with all other departments affected by changes in mine operations and assisted in overall mine management through interaction with other departments. Determined staffing levels and personnel requirements for Underground Operations. Ensured there was a comprehensive and effective succession management strategy in place for the operation; identified succession role requirements and high potential talent and actively developed key talent. Responsible for the Forecasting / Strategic Business Planning / Budgeting, and formulated training strategies for all underground staff. Evaluated operation policies and directives to ensure consistency with regulatory, statutory and world class safe operating procedures.

While working with this company, I monitored compliance with the safe schedule, production and business targets, and operational control integration for business risk mitigation. I drafted effective safety and operational policies and directives, monitored the efficiency of succession management strategy, and streamlined safety and hazard awareness training strategies for underground staff. In addition, I evaluated staffing requirements, set performance targets for employees, devised corrective actions to drive efficiency, and recommend promotions after performance analysis. I also fostered a cross-functional relationship with stakeholders from other departments.

In this role, I established underground mining protocols in accordance with industry-leading practices, monitored sub-level caving and open stopes, educated the underground mining team, and innovated recruitment through localization. In addition, I overhauled the safety management system, reported hazards and deviations to senior managers, formulated control strategies, and drafted safety and health audits. I boosted productivity by utilizing short interval control tools, analysed compliance with HR policies, coached stakeholders on site safety and health standards, and directed safety actions to efficiently meet site business and production commitments. For 2+ years, I managed the monthly, quarterly, and annual department budgets, strategized expenditure reduction procedures, and supervised business partner adherence to procurement and invoice regulations, code of conduct, anti-bribery, and fraud prevention policies. I also designed and delivered succession plans, authorized direct reports in line with operational strategies, and boosted accountability and achievement recognition through monthly team KPIs.
