Program Coordinator and LIT Trainer
YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth
Georgian Bay Islands National Park
As the Program Coordinator, I served as a liason between the camp and teachers, ensuring that they were happy with the program being provided and adjusting as necessary. I also organized the instructors for all of my programs during the spring and fall seasons, ensuring that they all got a variety of activities to run during the program to challenge themselves. I offered and encouraged feedback for instructors, in addition to delivering programs myself. As an Leader-In-Training (LIT) Trainer I was responsible for creating and co-ordinating the second year of the two-year CQE Leadership program. Along with my two co-trainers, we created a fun, safe, and challenging program to approximately 30 LIT participants each month. I worked with counsellors, the Directors and program staff to coordinate opportunities for participant leadership development, including a 2 week cabin placement and 2 week teaching placement for each participant. The emphasis of this program is on camp counselling and leadership skills, and focuses on the development of the leader within the cabin group. I worked closely with the Course Credit Coordinator to help facilitate the delivery of high school credit program. Each month we delivered creative programs, facilitated sessions on leadership skills, fostered personal growth opportunities, provided feedback on performance, and had individual evaluation meetings with each of LITs. Finally, I was responsible for the supervision of the LITs at all times, following up on any issues that arose and acted as a mediator when necessary to diffuse tense situations.

The Common Ground is a student-run coffee shop offering a wide variety of espresso-based drinks, iced drinks, bagels and cream cheese, sandwiches, and baked goods. Responsible for assisting customers, brewing coffee and tea, in addition to handing out baked goods and pre-made wraps and sandwiches. My role as Cashier was to deliver warm and compassionate customer service to students and teachers on campus. After working at Common Ground for a couple months, I was promoted to Brew Staff, a smaller location on campus in which you perform the role of Cashier, Barista and Sandwich Bar all on the same shift. Socio-Cultural Chair on the Orientation Committee
Kingston, Ontario
As the Socio-Cultural Chair I was responsible for overseeing the organization and implementation of all events during Queen's University Orientation Week. The Socio-Cultural Committee is responsible for integrating first year students into the Queen's Community and creating long-lasting memories and friendships. As a committee, we work to create events that break down the barriers between first-year students, their Orientation Week leaders and upper year students at Queen's University. Specifically, I was responsible for the Socio-Cultural Events, which include, Welcome Parade, Carnival, the Hypnotist, Frosh Night Out, Queen's Heritage, Frosh Olympics and finally, the Semi-Formal Dance. These events were organized and planned out by my sub-committee, which consists of six Orientation Coordinators that I hired and trained for their positions. As the Socio-Cultural Chair, my role was to manage the budget of $30,000 by allocating money to each of my commitee members and tracking their event spending to ensure that we were on task and budget. Furthermore, as a Orientation Week Chair I helped to create and manage the overall Arts and Science Orientation Week budget of $250,000 along with my co-Chairs. In my role as Socio-Cultural Chair, I made the decision to get rid of one of the events in my portfolio that was not successful and replaced it with another event I created called Heritage. Heritage looks at the history of Queen's University, looking into it's past in a creative and interactive manner. I worked closely with the University Historian, along with 2 of my Orientation Coordinators, to create the event and in the end it had high attendance from alumni, students and staff, including the Queen's Principle. This event has continued to be a highlight of Orientation Week for a couple years now and I am very proud of how far it has come and how it continue to engage a new generation of Gaels with its rich history.

Orientation Coordinator on C.A.R.E. Committee
C.A.R.E. stands for Community Awareness, Respect and Engagement. This committee focuses on planning events during Queen's University's Orientation Week that raise money for Shinerama, a charity that supports Cystic Fibrosis research. C.A.R.E. also strives to connect the Queen's community with the greater Kingston Community. The events that I planned and executed were Sidewalk Sale and Shine Rally. Sidewalk Sale is the largest event that takes place during Orientation Week on University Ave and Bader Lane at Queen's University, attended by more then 10,000 people each year. This event is enjoyed by students from all faculties and has 300+ vendors, clubs and societies there to tell students about services that they offer. Shine Rally is another event that takes place during Orientation Week which strives to inform and motivate students to raise money for Shinerama, a charity foundation that raises money for Cystic Fibrosis research. My role was to organize and contact the speakers for the event, as well as delivering a speech myself. Shine Rally takes place the morning before our largest fundraiser, Shine Day. As such, Shine Rally functions to motivate students to get out into the community and raise money through activities like bottle collection, shining shoes, washing cars and a carnival in the town square downtown. Through these activities we were able to raise over $70,000 for Shinerama.
