I am going into my final year of my Masters of Arts degree in International Relations and Arabic at the University of St. Andrews. Interviewed for the opportunity to undertake 2 semesters: in Morocco at Qalam Wa Lawh centre for Arabic Language and at Institut d'études politiques de Paris.I am motivated by finding my path to a positive impact on the world. This has influenced my work in Scottish youth Politics and my passion for supporting students to design meaningful career plans. I have always been a creative person, enjoying art throughout school and appreciating the impact artists can have on our beliefs about the world. But I am also drawn to strategic thinking and data to shape everything that I do towards efficiency. Recently, I am seeking to combine these skills to help raise awareness of issues in the world.Experienced in: community building, project design, people management, academic research and improvement science.President of Effective Altruism St. Andrews: managing an organisation of 10-15 students, designing & facilitating discussion programmes on a variety of topics, organised 2 multi-night residential workshops aimed at building impactful career plans, successful in receiving $3,000+ in grant funding. Trained in Systems Thinking Methodology used in the Scottish Public Sector. Skilled in using tools and data to: understand complex systems, build the will for change, design effective interventions and continuously measure impact.

On shift I was the sole person in charge of: a 60 person hotel, bar serving 500+ customers nightly, 70 person restaurant and a 9 person team. Ensuring compliance with food-hygiene, alcohol license requirements and work-safety laws. Developed clear communication and training skills in high pressure environments whilst handling multiple problems developing across diverse sections of the business.

Leading a University organisation supporting students to find impactful and meaningful opportunities in their future careers. Designed discussion programmes on a variety of topics, organised 2 multi-night residential workshops aimed at building impactful career plans and grew the society from 2-3 individuals to a self-sustaining organisation of 15+ students. Won competitive funding from Open Philanthropy to fund my time as an organiser. Successful received year long funding for the group by demonstrating the impact case for EA St. Andrews.

Elected Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament - representing ~40,000 Young People in the Stirling Constituency and their concerns to local, national and third-sector decision makers. Further elected Deputy-Convener of the International and External Affairs committee - leading on International Policy and taking key decisions on the running of Parliamentary events. Designed a workshop for elected members to gather data on the National Discussion on Education - information recieved as part of this formed the Parliament's response to a Government inquiry and subsequently was the key voice of Young People in the final report published by Government.
