Work Experience with HCC at Lloyd's of London insurance in the marine underwriting department. Building on my knowledge of the insurance world from my time with NGP, I shadowed an experience underwriter and learnt about the Lloyd's face to face method of business and developed skills required for this as well as learning some basics of marine underwriting.

I worked for a small property company - NGP Ltd. I had a client facing role whereby I had to analyse insurance information from retail clients and identify where savings could be made and, crucially, communicate the information to the clients. This often involved working on hundreds of sites, and the information had to be analysed quickly. I prepared succinct reports highlighting relevant information. This required diligence, judgement and precision as key decisions rested on my analysis and reports. On a day to day basis, I contacted landlords and property agents to extract often obscured information about the properties. Through this, I learned crucial negotiating skills and developed persistence. I had to use my organisational skills to monitor those companies which required repeated contact in order to elicit a response. In certain cases our clients required me to attend their premises and work alongside their staff to obtain the data required for us to represent them. I developed excellent interpersonal skills through regularly having to work efficiently with new people and in unfamiliar circumstances, all the time representing my company. The work was time pressured and I had to constantly meet deadlines from my company's main negotiators which required self-discipline and hard work. Our reputation with clients was based on speed and flexibility as well as results and my actions had to reflect that.

Lifeguard and Sports coach - Eric Liddell. Main duties included lifeguarding every weekend. During my last year at school, I coached boys' football at Southborough Primary School, Bromley. In the holidays I also worked at Barracudas multi activity camps for children.

I worked for 4Global, an industry leader in major events and sports business consultancy. My role included research for business opportunities in the UK created by major sporting events in foreign countries.
