i was there as an undergrad research student working to the vndn project the geni wimax project and several other collaboration, i'm here as a programmer for a in a variety of languages(C/C++, python, ruby). At Laboratori all System Engineers are used to deal with people, colleagues and clients alike, we monitored the whole networks of our clients understanding their structure and in some case building it from scratch or redesigning it to improve it, dealing mostly with layer 2 and 3 problems, while configuring software for them such as monitoring tools, web servers, domain controllers, DNS, mail servers and so on mostly using Linux tools and services. On the clients i personally followed, other than the task previously described, i deployed and managed a puppet environment to deal with an highly decentralized and disorganized previous organization. On another client i personally analyzed their network and organized a one time full network vlan switch they personally requested. All by constantly pushing for a more modern organization of our clients and softwares, like using git and version control of our severs configurations, automation of our software deploys, software testing and so on, with various degree of success.

in these years i've learned the basic of computer science, the university projects have formed me more than anything other in my undergrad career. i've learned the basic of networking, theoretical computer science, programming languages and such, but even more i've build a microkernel for a mips architecture as my operating system project(with full marks), and a microblogging webservice for my web technologies project, learning meanwhile how to work with others and be productive. on my thesis i designed an API for testing of the VDE framework i'm pretty proud of my achievement and of what i learned during these undergrad years
