Florence (Flo) Février-Wagner

At Photys Therapeutics, my leadership in Discovery and Technology is driven by a mission to forge new paths in drug discovery and development. Our team's efforts focus on pioneering bifunctional molecules, aiming to improve treatment modalities for various diseases. In my role, I leverage extensive expertise in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, structural biology and more to address complex therapeutic challenges. Collaboration sits at the core of our strategy, partnering with esteemed institutions to translate biological insights into clinical impactful drugs. My tenure at Photys has been marked by strategic leadership and a deep-seated commitment to innovation in therapeutic discovery, aiming to advance medicine and improve patient outcomes.

In addition to her responsibilities of Director of Chemistry at the Center for the Development of Therapeutics, Flo co-leads the center on an innovative and purpose-driven path to discover new therapeutics with important clinical impact. Embedded within the Broad Institute, the Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT) is a highly collaborative organization of professional drug discovery scientists. Our mission is to translate cutting edge biological insights originating from the Broad community into impactful drug discovery projects. We partner with faculty from MIT, Harvard, and the Harvard teaching hospitals together with industry partners in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and Venture Capital firms to validate druggable targets and identify lead compounds. We combine our deep expertise in drug discovery with the knowledge and unique capabilities of the Broad Institute to address a wide range of disease areas (including oncology, cardiovascular, psychiatry, infectious and rare diseases). We use systematic approaches in genomics, biology, chemistry, and machine learning coupled with the Broad's culture of creativity, risk taking, and open sharing, to successfully advance science, develop new treatments, and positively impact patients.

Leads group of 28 medicinal and computational chemists in the Center for the Development of therapeutics, an organization of professional scientists eager to help Broad principal investigators advance their deep biological and clinical insights to therapeutics. Manages entire portfolio of drug discovery projects in collaboration with Broad’s principal investigators or industrial partners. Co-leads the Broad Drug Repurposing Hub. Institute Scientist, one of 21 professional scientists at the Broad in charge of catalyzing scientific connections and engaging in key institutional issues and decisions.

Leads group of 11 medicinal and computational chemists in drug discovery. Manages CNS, rare diseases and oncology portfolio of discovery projects in collaboration with Broad’s principal investigators or industrial partners. Leads Discovery Solutions and Systems group within CDoT that provides Informatics, Cheminformtaics, Compound Management, High-Throughput Screening and Process Engineering services to the Broad and its collaborators. Co-leads the Broad Drug Repurposing Hub.
