Chair of the £4bn fund of investments to secure the pensions of around 30,000 former employees of the company. Oversaw merger of four separate schemes following a series of acquisitions. Undertook several triennial actuarial valuations, negotiating with E.ON on the assumptions to be used and agreeing recovery plans involving payments of hundreds of millions pounds into the fund. Instigated governance review and implemented recommended findings to ensure the Trustee Board provided effective oversight of the scheme.

Promoted to executive legal / secretarial role shortly after the acquisition of Powergen by E.ON and the company’s delisting, with a team of 10 lawyers allocated on a ‘business partner’ model. Worked with peers across E.ON internationally to define areas for group-wide common action. Member of board sub-committee formulating E.ON UK’s response to an industry-wide Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation (2014-2016) and the resultant response. Prime accountability for company’s legal and communications strategy for CMA investigation. Set up and steered a number of investigations arising from whistleblowing complaints, from field personnel to board peers. Worked with external advisers to streamline all governance processes following unification of E.ON UK’s previous two board structure. At the Group CEO’s invitation worked on a strategic company-wide initiative to establish the optimal organisational structure for E.ON and associated governance processes, encompassing power generation and distribution activities and customer businesses.
