Determined the optimization potential within a multi-hub airline network by means of a hybrid mixed-integer approach; considered macroscopic effects like market competition as well as detailed operational constraints like airport time slots. Demonstrated the effectiveness of test-driven DevOps methodology to the product owner of a popular software suite for flight scheduling while delivering automated KPI dashboards. Responsibility for an in-depth analysis of how decentral stations impact the efficiency of crew planning; highly complex data wrangling in a very limited time frame. Conducted a series of change management workshops in line with the transitioning of zeroG to an (almost) no hierarchy structure.

Focus on Big Data Analytics / Machine Learning. Co-architect of a multi-tenant production-ready big data solution in a highly regulated bank environment; considered aspects include classification and hashing of data feeds from three business units, automated ETL into Cloudera Impala, requirements for analytic use cases, queries from Jupyter notebooks (R and Python). SCRUM team lead for onboarding market research data of a global retail brand to an Apache Spark enabled analytics platform on the cloud; experience with leading an off-shore development team; alignment between business, IT and master data management.

Focus on Predictive Analytics / Machine Learning. Founding member of PwC Switzerland’s data analytics group; helped grow the team from two to seven FTEs by recruiting a new colleague and steady, enthusiastic business development with a specialization in machine learning e.g. internal project lead for development of anomaly detection methods in IT security. Life sciences client: applied anomaly detection to the network traffic log files and visualized potential intrusion patterns with Tableau. Participated in Deep Learning Summit 2015 in San Francisco.

Focus on Financial Services / Risk Modeling. Global anti-money-laundering unit of a bank: identified relevant risk attributes and grew into being the single developer of an R package for unifying and optimizing their risk model; gained insights into the service lines of retail banking, global transaction banking, private wealth and asset management. Financial services firm in liquidation: responsibility for performing key word searches on all historical emails and scanned contracts to be provided in court.

Research on Combinatorial Optimization. Improved clustering algorithms with applications to structural analysis of social networks and developed new approach to optimization of train schedules.

Independently built a VBA generator for test data to be used in a supply chain simulation of a parcel distribution center.
