Key Responsibilities - Geotechnical Investigations: Plan and oversee borehole drilling, test pits, sampling, and in-situ testing; review and interpret field and laboratory data. - Design & Analysis: Perform foundation design (shallow & deep), retaining structures, embankments, pavement structures, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) assessments, and slope stability analysis. - Reporting: Prepare geotechnical reports, memos, and recommendations for clients, contractors, and stakeholders. - Construction Support: Conduct site inspections, review contractor submittals, and provide field recommendations for earthworks, shoring, dewatering, and foundation systems. - Cost Estimation & Proposals: Assist with preparing cost estimates, project budgets, and technical proposals for new projects. - Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (structural, civil, environmental) to ensure project goals are met. - Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to applicable codes, standards, and health & safety requirements. • Perform a variety of Geotechnical engineering work from the initial planning of a field investigation to preparation of a geotechnical report and providing consultation during the construction phase; • Complete geotechnical design recommendations and analysis based on test hole and laboratory testing data engineering and analysis and carry out senior review of geotechnical design and analyses; • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria; • Provide technical guidance to intermediate to junior engineers and designers/drafters; • Carry out variety of soil mechanics analyses and design including permissible grade raise calculations, shallow foundation, raft (mat) foundation, end bearing pile foundation and retaining wall structures; • Coordinating projects in one or more of the following areas; o Geotechnical Drilling o Slope Stability Assessments o Settlement Analyses • Coordinating, supervising and performing research and field responsibilities, such as geotechnical investigation, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, etc.; • Generating and assisting with preparation of deliverable documentation such as proposals, technical memorandums and reports; • Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures and work plans; • Develop solutions with senior personnel for complex design programs; • Work independently and as part of a team on multiple concurrent projects, with the ability to stay within budget and meet deliverable deadlines; • Assist in the development and maintenance of client relationships.

• Perform geotechnical investigations and design plans and specifications from guidelines for a wide variety of transportation, industrial resources, site development, commercial and industrial land projects; • Prepare geotechnical reports for a variety of projects (commercial, industrial or residential developments, transportation, industrial resources, utilities, building foundations, slope stability analysis, geotechnical expertise); • Designing plans and specifications for earthworks, slope stabilization, bank protection, etc.; • Prepare bids and offers for services;

• Performing construction site reconnaissance, observations, and inspections (for example, footing inspections, nuclear gauge testing, and concrete testing) • Reviewing soil and rock samples in our laboratory, scheduling geotechnical laboratory testing, and compiling test results for use on engineering projects • Summarizing and analyzing findings from reconnaissance/inspections, investigations, and lab testing

• Conducted field testing for materials testing, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. • Assessed soil and sampled aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt. • Performed laboratory testing on aggregates, soil, concrete, and asphalt.

• Coordinate concrete QA/QC testing as well as compaction testing accordingly to the specification. • Ensure a safe working environment (slope excavation not more than 1 to 1) and perform quality control. • Collect all data and necessary information for the end of the month payment. • Assist at regular safety meeting at the main office and ensure to apply any recommendations on my construction site • Report daily activities to the resident engineer by writing technical report. • Provide adequate information and directives to the contractors when necessary. • Coordinate weekly meeting with the contractor about the work progress.

• Travel to different road construction sites and perform some quality control operations. • Collect all the data and information necessary. • Help the main inspector of the project by coordinating compaction testing when necessary • Report daily activities to the main engineer.

• Coordinate pouring of concrete, estimate the amount needed for a specific task. • Perform a quality control check on every material coming on site before being placed. • Perform some surveying work to verify mainly on the road alignment using total station as well as the final roads’ layer elevation using the dumpy level.

• Supervise and assist contractor during the installation of water meters across the city of Johannesburg. • Approve installations once done or suggest modifications if they do not respect the specification. • Provide adequate information to the contractor such as the exact location of the existing water meter. • Write daily technical report on each water meter installation and send them to the main server.
