Welcome 👋 I'm obsessed with driving equitable access to credit. It’s estimated that 1 in 3 UK adults have credit scores that don’t reflect their true financial status. They face exclusion or are forced into higher-cost borrowing (often charged 42%-90%+ APR). This is driven by the credit scoring methodology in the UK, where borrowing history is the primary data source used. However, 9 million adults have limited borrowing history and struggle to access credit assessed in this way. This is compounded by the fact that borrowing histories are inconsistently reported, with approximately 70% of UK adults having different records with the three main Credit Reference Agencies (FCA, 2023). However, a meaningful proportion of these individuals are creditworthy. Our recent study indicated that 78% of thin-to-no credit file borrowers do *not* default. Introducing Noggin... Our mission: unlock an entirely new book of loan business for mainstream lenders (0-30% APR), and in doing so, save the British economy £16.5 billion in interest expense.
