I started out in the Visual Merchandising team (which involved setting up in store displays, window displays, merchandising and discussing/exploring creative ideas) on a contract for 2 months which was extended further to January. I then took the opportunity when I could to work as a Sales Assistant (this involved reading customers body language and listening to the customers needs to ultimately close the sale) that I started in February 2016.

In this company I started from the bottom and worked my way up the ranks. I learnt various ways of dealing with different personality types and gain a strong base for my work ethic. Daily tasks would involve mixing motor, loading out blocks and erecting masonry walls; I would also have dealings with site foreman to ensure work was ready to proceed and to negotiate/discuss the aesthetic look and placement of fine construction details. Throughout my apprenticeship book work was to be completed as well as a block course which was held in Hamilton.
