Evan Jeremy

Evan accepted an invitation from the PNG Government's Minister for Health and the Enga Provincial Government in 2018 to serve as chairman of the Enga Provincial Health Authority, a part-time voluntary position which allows him to help lead the Authority's Board of Trustees in providing leadership and oversight to the management and workforce of the Authority as well as help forge effective collaborations government partners as well as global healthcare partners, including foreign health ministries, international teaching hospitals, medical schools and healthcare-focused foundations, among others (especially while PNG's first brand new hospital, the US$162 million New Enga Provincial Hospital, is presently under construction in 2018).

This is a government-approved, tax-exempt nonprofit, healthcare-focused organization dedicated to the pursuit of transforming the public healthcare sector in PNG. Overall leadership and guidance is provided by a board of trustees, along with an international advisory board, comprised of a former Prime Minister and a former Health Minister of PNG, along with other eminent international indiividuals (from the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, Singapore and Europe) with expertise in global health, international trade and finance, governance and law, government and the nonprofit sector.

Evan was responsible for key accomplishments in terms of strengthening PNG's diplomatic/political and economic relations with the U.S. and Canada, which resulted in the re-introduction of the U.S. Fulbright Scholarships and other educational and Public Diplomacy programs for PNG and other Pacific Island nations, especially in Evan's advocacy role as the founder/chairman of the Pacific Islands Ambassadors Group in Washington DC; helped respond to and addressed PNG related sovereign risk issues with respect to the U.S. Export Import Bank’s US$3 billion investment in the ExxonMobil-operated PNG LNG Project; and helped facilitate dozens of other North American investments within PNG's oil, gas and mining industries, the agricultural sector, fishing industry and various other industries; invited and persuaded Former U.S. President Bill Clinton to visit PNG in 2006 during which the 42nd American President launched the Clinton Foundation’s Global Health and Clinton Climate Change initiatives in PNG - a first visit to PNG by a current or former American president. Evan also arranged for the then U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to visit PNG in 2010 during which she launched a number of U.S.-funded women’s empowerment initiatives - also a first visit to PNG by a serving U.S Secretary of State. Evan helped forge partnerships and collaborations with dozens of North American teaching hospitals, foundations, universities and other public and private sector entities as well as non-profit organizations to establish successful programs in PNG. Evan was recognised by the U.S. State Department as the youngest head of mission in Washington DC from any country when he presented his credentials to the then U.S. President George W. Bush in September 2003.
