• Migrated Open and WebSphere Liberty’s nightly pipelines from using RTC for test runners to Jenkins in order to improve performance and reliability. Reduced pipeline duration by 50% (saved 8h per run, 6x per day), takes advantage of features of CI Orchestrator for more reliable test execution, and enables pipeline to be easily extended with modularized capabilities. • Migrated WebSphere Migration Toolkit’s pipelines from running on a single-VM managed Jenkins instance to CI Orchestrator in order to reduce maintenance and improve performance. Maintenance is then handled by Ansible, and reduced the duration of PR pipelines by 33 minutes (24% improvement) and release pipelines by 73 minutes (47% improvement). • Implemented a CI Orchestrator pipeline for a new product called Feature Mapper in support of WebSphere’s Modernized Runtime Environment dev team. • Updated WebSphere Liberty from Gradle 8.x to 9.1 by fixing deprecated code to enable building on Java 25. • Integrated Mend SAST (static code scan) into Liberty's CI/CD release pipeline to detect security vulnerabilities earlier, reducing cost of remediation of CVEs. • Implemented required Maven POM attributes for Liberty’s various artifacts released to Maven Central to meet more strict validation requirements. • Upgraded Liberty pipelines to use IBM Semeru Java 21 for executing regression tests to validate against the latest stable Semeru Java release. • Implemented Git signing for commits made by automated IDs to enforce all commits are signed in Liberty. • Provided direct team and broader WebSphere org with timely and thorough support on Slack and GitHub, and reviewed 173 PRs for my team in 2025. • Utilizing generative AI tools as coding environments to develop.

• Awarded IBM Tech 2023 and Outstanding Technical Achievement by senior executives for work on CI Orchestrator. • Migrated Open Liberty and WebSphere's CI server infrastructure off RTC to an in-house tool we designed and built called CI Orchestrator. This was necessary to run CI/CD pipelines that tie together multiple types of CI servers, can distribute workload to horizontally scaled controller nodes, and run worker nodes in AWS cloud or on-premise. The system supports 1,200+ concurrent jobs/builds executing up to 88,000 test cases each. • Reduced CI/CD pipeline duration for pull requests between 11% and 50% depending on type of change made in the PR (saved between 1h 30m and 7h 42m per PR) and functional acceptance test (full suite) by 53.7% (saved 19h 18m per day). • Improved test reliability in CI/CD pipelines by re-provisioning and re-attempting test runner environments. For instance, if infrastructure defects (non-test related) occur with a 5% failure rate, our previous system would have a 30% chance of passing, whereas the new system has a 99.99% chance of passing. • Implemented 7 event-driven Java microservices using Apache Kafka, Open Liberty, and Jenkins jobs to replace legacy build scripting. Assigned tasks and tracked completion of requirements so that we could present a proof of concept demo to our executive team at the end of 2021. Demoed final CI Orchestrator product to our organization in 2022. • Organized and ran weekly meetings for planning, status, and retrospectives. • Created high level architectures with architect and provided status updates to management. • Worked closely with architect to create documentation and designs before the team began working on implementing features. • Created design documents and issues describing requirements with clear goals to track work. • Ran work groups when needed for designs, coding, and planning future phases of the project.

• Significant contributor to open sourcing Open Liberty (www.openliberty.io). • Worked closely with the Open Liberty architects to separate components from WebSphere into Open Liberty. • Led migration to build using Gradle and Artifactory. Switched 1,000+ Java projects that compose Open Liberty and WebSphere Liberty to build with Gradle instead of Apache Ant. Delivered a source code package of WebSphere Application Server, a precursor of Open Liberty, for a large Chinese customer deal (Teamsun). • Presented to 500 DevOps enthusiasts at DevOpsDays Raleigh 2019 about our products journey converting to modern build tools. • Created an Open Liberty image/artifacts that customers could download for SpringOne Conference demo and implemented process for customers to download Open Liberty releases and development builds from www.openliberty.io. • Worked on performance and reliability improvements to the build. Upgraded build tool (Gradle, Bnd) versions regularly. • Contributed to a large organizational effort to migrate version control system for WebSphere Liberty from Rational Team Concert to GitHub Enterprise. • Awarded Open Source Engagement Recognition in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

• Updated feature API checker tool for several GM releases to ensure no regressions in shipped customer facing APIs. The tool reduced the possibility of customer issues from delivering incorrectly versioned APIs. Automated the manual review work of this process from days to minutes. • Maintained an internal tools hub machine and an internal wiki before we migrated to GitHub wikis. Fully restored the machine from CrashPlan backup when a hardware failure occurred. • Mentored interns, coops, and new hires coming onboard our team by interviewing, describing project needs, and advising on project progress. • Asset coordinator for local hardware in the WebSphere Poughkeepsie branch. • Developed Java EE applications utilizing various Java specifications such as Batch, JMS, JPA, EJB, JPA, Servlets, etc. • Maintained automation to install, configure and manage WAS Liberty and WAS traditional on Linux and the z/OS mainframe operating system using Python, bash scripting, Selenium and Firefox. Setup remote VMs to execute system test cases. Switched tests from using Rational Function Tester to Selenium for web browsing and that improved runtime of test cases by 50%. • Provided leadership and mentoring to customers who visited from NTT Data on contracts with IBM.
