My research involved developing hydrostatic transmission systems and mechanisms for robot manipulators and end-effectors capable of very low impedance interactions. My Master's degree is in mechanical engineering with a focus on fracture mechanics and composites. My thesis was on the 3D simulation of composite delamination under fatigue loading using a user defined element in ABAQUS. My Bachelor's degree was in general engineering with a specialization in mechanical. My senior design project was to design and build a carbon fiber bicycle with a unique set of design objectives.

Hardware design and development of hybrid-hydrostatic, floating piston linear actuator and 2-dof gripper. Went through concept generation, design, prototype, and manufacturing phase. Extensive use of 3D printing for prototyping and iterating mechanical designs. Current projects include an underwater hydraulic manipulator with haptic feedback and an ultralight, high performance robot manipulator (comparable to a human arm) using the hybrid-hydrostatic power transmission.
