Co-founded Distil Networks and scaled the technical group from 0 to 100 employees distributed across the US and Europe through guiding a developer focused engineering culture, building scalable systems, empowering my managers and a fanatical focus on customers. -Guiding Engineering Culture o Development Culture - Championed my group’s transformation into an scalable agile organization l with a strong focus on developer empowerment. o Technical Culture - implementing a technical culture aligned on the organizational principles of developer empowerment, rapid iterations, simplicity, and ownership o Leadership Culture - Built a strong culture of ownership and collaboration within within the engineering management team through coaching, example and adherence to the organizational principles. -Systems and Infrastructure Design o Planned, designed and implemented the first two iterations of our global infrastructure which includes a CDN. o Initially built out all monitoring, deployment and backend infrastructure utilizing a mix of custom built monitoring agents and open source tools. Was part of a newly formed customer focused QA team which investigated corner cases reported by the field and reproduced them in lab environment to help speed up resolution. Executed multiple tests in complex network environments involving Riverbed’s shipping products at the time such as Steelhead and Shark with multiple application layer protocols such as: HTTP/HTTPS, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint as well as heavy testing focused on TCP. Designed the network layout of the next generation test lab emulating an enterprise core network deployment sitting behind steelheads connecting to a branch office. Performed load and throughput testing using Ixia traffic generators, iperf, and stt while doing soft and hard failovers between Riverbed devices. Thoroughly test and certify Cisco products and solutions based on real customer requirements and objectives. Tested BGP and OSPF convergence on SUP720 equipped 6500’s, ASR1000 and ISR-G2 platforms. Tested NAT scalability on SUP720, ASR1004, and ASA5570. Specifically with HTTP and DNS. Performed security testing using Protocol Fuzzing from Codenomicon for HTTP, DNS, TCP, LDAP and SIP protocols. Wrote Perl and TCL automation scripts for regression testing. Tested Wan Optimization on Cisco WAAS release 1.0 and contributed three sections to customer facing Wan Opt design guide.
